An Engaging Book for Managers at All Levels by Local Author

Dated: March 9, 2011

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Local resident, Coach David R Meyer, a nationally known author, speaker, mentor coach, and trainer just released his new book – “The Engaged Manager:  Make your team a success and they’ll make you a success”, already a bestselling management book.

March 9, 2011 – Denver, CO

“The single biggest cause of failure for leaders is their inability to shift from the behaviors that served them as an individual contributor to the behaviors and skills required for their role as manager, especially an Engaged Manager.”

Most people are promoted to managerial positions because of their skill as an individual contributor. There are two immediate problems associated with this. First, the skills that make a good individual contributor are totally different than the skills required to be a good manager. Second, new managers rarely receive adequate training to prepare them for the challenges of managing people. They believe their success comes from within themselves, rather than relying on their entire team.

Engaged Managers understand that the team’s success in not about them, it’s about the people around them. An Engaged Manager creates an Engaged Team and, therefore, produces more results for less money than non-engaged managers, helping the organization accomplish its goals.

From this perspective, “The Engaged Manager” will help you change the way you think about yourself and your job. It will help you develop and enhance the skills required to make you a successful and Engaged Manager including:

    • personnel management
    • communication
    • time management
    • delegation

In addition to tips and techniques for strengthening your management skill set, Coach David R Meyer shares engaging personal stories which not only illustrate the relevance and value of each skill, but also bring a warmth and “real-life” nature to the book.

Meyer, a Certified Behavioral Consultant, and his business partner, Laurie Valaer, draw on their joint experience working with many national and local businesses and organizations in developing strong workplace teams and training managers on how to get the most from their employees.

Whether you manage five or 500 employees in your workplace, this book will provide invaluable insight to managers on team building, employee engagement and organizational success.

You can read more about the book or purchase your copy at The Engaged Manager website.
