Making Communication Work (Advanced DiSC® Communication)Session Length: 4 hours Prerequisite: Connecting for Success
Communication is more than talking and listening. Genuine communication requires a deep understanding of another person's perspective. But...when you take into consideration all of our biases, behavioral idiosyncrasies, unspoken emotions, personal agendas, and unshared assumptions...this can seem almost impossible. For years, however, DiSC® has successfully helped people understand each other on a more fundamental level.
This program shows participants how to read other people and see how others interpret their behaviors. It leaves them with a gut-level appreciation for the needs of their co-workers. Ultimately, the program helps participants adapt their communication styles in a way that creates an enduring working alliance among group members. Role of Trust and Conflict in the WorkplaceSession Length: 4 hours Listen Up! The Other Side of CommunicationSession Length: 8 hours
Listening is the “other side” of communications, and the one that most people take for granted. Yet, to be effective in your career AND in your life you need to understand not only WHEN to listen, but HOW to listen.
In this dynamic, interactive program you will explore the value of effective listening, gain insight into the 5 major listening approaches, and learn when to adopt a different listening approach for more successful communication.
Workplace Collaboration - Creating Cohesive TeamsSession Length: 4 hours
More than likely we’ve all had to work with people who were quite different than us. Sometimes it is frustrating, but when a team learns to understand their roles, embrace their differences, and work together toward a common goal, they can be enormously powerful.
This program specifically helps bring teams together and collaborate for a common goal. It is designed for individuals who want to improve the efficiency of their workgroup and tap into each team member’s strengths. Essential Elements of a TeamSession Length: 4 hours
A team is greater than the sum of its parts. Teams have their own motivations and behaviors. And team dynamics can change dramatically as their team leaders and members come and go. This program helps you understand how effective, successful teams develop, how to identify your team's characteristics, and how to leverage your collective strengths and correct negative tendencies.
This program highlights the fundamental components of a great team, how team members communicate to achieve the team goals, and how to ensure that your best performers are also your best team players. Employee Engagement - Identifying Key ExpectationsSession Length: 4 hours
Have you ever wondered what makes a good company great? It's the people. Committed, productive employees are the key to organizational success and a healthy bottom line. The challenge, then, is retaining and developing satisfied, committed employees. Research has shown that people who have clearly defined, well-communicated expectations have better attitudes and enjoy greater job satisfaction than people whose expectations go unspoken or unrealized. And companies that employ satisfied, successful people reap the rewards of increased productivity and reduced turnover.
This engaging, interactive program is designed to help managers and employees dialogue about their work expectations, which opens the door to mutual understanding. Participants will explore key work expectations, discover which expectations are most important to them, learn how to communicate their expectations to others, learn how to initiate steps to have their expectations met, and learn how to adjust their expectations when necessary. Hidden Culture - Personal Values in the WorkplaceSession Length: 4 hours Prerequisite: Connecting for Success
Just as individuals have unique styles, groups also tend to develop distinct styles or cultures. These cultures are informal combinations of behaviors, values, and attitudes that most people take for granted. Put in the simplest terms, group culture is “the way we do things.” Although not everyone agrees or flows with the culture, most group members feel the pressure that a culture exerts to act in a particular way.
While DiSC® does not address all elements of culture, it helps people understand many important needs, goals, fears, emotions, and behaviors that contribute to it. In this course, participants use DiSC to explore their group culture and understand all of its implications. Further, participants explore ways to contribute most effectively within their culture. Discovering Team Talents - Leverage the Strengths of Your TeamSession Length: 4 hours
Have you ever worked on a team where everyone is doing what they enjoy and making the very best use of their talents? A team where people just seem to “get” each other, projects make real progress and everyone is glad to be on the team? The goal of this program is to help you create this kind of engaged, high-functioning team.
This course is designed for team members or team leaders who wish to increase group performance by helping each person in a group fulfill his or her potential to the overall benefit of the group. Understanding Workplace MotivationSession Length: 4 hours Prerequisite: Connecting for Success
Everybody on a team is motivated. They're just motivated by different things and, sometimes, toward different things. The team can be more effective and engaged when each member knows how to get what he or she needs out of the process.
This program helps participants pinpoint the things that drive their success on a team. Through the DiSC® model, participants learn to appreciate the role that their environment has on their motivation. Team members discover how to capitalize on their particular motivators in a way that makes the entire team more energized, dynamic, and successful.

Intentional Leadership - Leveraging the Strengths of Your StyleSession Length: 8 hours Prerequisite: Connecting for Success
Managers have incredible influence. Their strengths can empower and energize the people who work for them. And, of course, their limitations can trickle down to create frustration, confusion, or even paralysis for those they manage.
Utilizing the DiSC® behavioral model, this program gives managers a safe, fun way to understand the strengths and challenges that they bring to the table. They gain a greater appreciation for the impact that their behavior has on others, and they discover how others may respond to their style. The goal of this program is to learn how to leverage their management strengths, enabling both managers and their employees to be more effective. Talent-Based Hiring - A Guide to Behavioral InterviewingSession Length: 4 hours
Why is interviewing so difficult? Most people will say it’s because you feel that you are making the right decision at the time, but find out later that your choice was not the best one. It's not easy - for the interviewer or for the interviewee.
An interview can tell you whether the applicant has the skills a job requires. But how this person will perform on the job is just as critical. Skills and behavior are the two most important elements of job performance. Behavioral interviewing techniques are designed to reveal both.
This course will make the interviewing process easier and more effective. It provides participants with the tools needed to discover if a candidate is the right person for the job. Personalized Time Management - Developing Strategies That WorkSession Length: 4 hours
Setting priorities and managing time are basic to enhancing individual and organizational performance. The pressure to find innovative ways to achieve goals, stay ahead of the competition, respond quickly to customer needs, and enjoy life outside of work is increasingly intense in today's less structured, information-driven workplace. Meeting the daily challenges of managing professional and personal responsibilities requires a learning strategy that focuses on individual needs.
This program is designed to help your organization reduce wasted time and increase efficiency, as employees learn to devote more time to completing the most critical tasks. Coping with Stress in Today's WorkplaceSession Length: 4 hours
Today's workplace demands high performance of its employees, but that no longer means putting work ahead of everything else. Organizations formerly disregarded the need to balance life outside of work and accepted the fact that productivity suffered as a result. Today's more dynamic, team-oriented organizations require flexible, creative, sustainable performance, the kind that comes with people who know how to balance the urgent demands of work life and personal life without sacrificing either.
Other stress management approaches focus primarily on using personal coping resources such as exercise, nutrition, and building self-esteem to deal with stress. This program focuses on relationship coping resources as the most effective and consistent response to stressors identified in life. Emotional Intelligence: Measuring Personal SuccessSession Length: 8 hours
Understanding Personality Styles is a great tool for improving communication and teamwork in the workplace. But to get the full measure of success from understanding your style, you need to understand how you affect the people around you. Emotional intelligence is about becoming aware of our own emotions, in the moment, and the emotions of others, and using that information to manage ourselves and our relationships with others.
While cognitive intelligence (measured as IQ) is set at birth, research shows that emotional intelligence (measured as EQ) can be learned. Building on your knowledge of your personality style, this class addresses the concept of Emotional Intelligence, to provide you with a clear understanding of your impact on those around you. Managing Conflict and ResistanceSession Length: 4 hours Prerequisite: Connecting for Success
Working with so-called difficult employees can be one a manager's biggest headaches. People often times come across as difficult because they handle conflict differently than we do. In fact, others' approaches to conflict can often seem counterproductive, confusing, or even bizarre. Listen Up!
Aligning Vision and GoalsSession Length: 4 hours
It is certainly critical for leaders to create a high-level company vision. However, for an organization to actually implement that vision, the leaders must also be able to break the vision down into manageable chunks or objectives. Goals and objectives define the organization’s responsibilities and expectations.
For employees to be effective, they have to know what they are accountable for. This is even more critical for key contributors, who are heavily focused on meeting and, more likely, exceeding those expectations. In addition, clear objectives ensure that all members of a team are moving toward a common goal and are clearly aware of what is expected from them if the objectives are to be achieved.
We’ve all learned how important it is to create “SMART” goals, but this program takes goal setting to a whole new level. Participants will learn the keys to setting effective goals, what it takes to motivate employees to meet those goals, and how setting goals can energize your entire organization to a greater level of achievement. Managing Performance - Understanding Skill and CommitmentSession Length: 4 hours Prerequisite: Connecting for Success
Even the best performers get stagnated from time to time. But before managers can help them out of their rut, they need to understand the situation and why the person is having difficulty. Sometimes employees aren’t motivated or committed to the task. Sometimes they don’t have the skills or know-how.
Leadership and Self-DeceptionSession Length: 4 hours
Would you be surprised to learn that self-deception is the #1 obstacle to organizational effectiveness? It's true. Reducing self-deception may be the single most important step your organization can take toward increased productivity. But what is self-deception and why is it so prevalent? Simply put, self-deception is the problem of not being able to see that you are the problem. For instance: Think about the most difficult person you've ever had to work with. What made them difficult? Did they consider themselves a problem? Chances are, they did not. Despite the fact that you (and everyone else around them) could see they were a problem, they couldn't see it.
This program illustrates this "simple" concept by presenting an unforgettable video re-enactment matched with a comprehensive workshop. The video and workshop exercises offer a poignant look at how self-deception prevents us from seeing the obvious solution to some of our biggest workplace problems, providing tools for analyzing and solving problems, at their core.
Adventures in LeadershipSession Length: 8 hours

Adventures in Leadership helps build those leaders by exploring in clear, no-nonsense terms the importance of such fundamental concepts as:

Preventing Conflict - Shifting from Confrontation to CommunicationSession Length: 4 hours Prerequisite: Connecting for Success
Few of us like conflict. So why is it so pervasive, so enduring, and so difficult to resolve? One of the primary reasons is that we all have a natural instinct to see just one side of an issue: our own. Can this instinct be reshaped? Twenty-five years of DiSC® training shows that it can.
This is a simple, but powerful, program that helps individuals and groups develop the understanding and empathy to work through tough interpersonal conflicts. This course is designed to spark a lasting change that speaks to not only the individual, but also to the group. It builds fundamental skills that are crucial for effective teamwork and communication. Discovering Team Talents - Leverage the Strengths of Your TeamSession Length: 4 hours
